the verge of a new dawn?

Outing with friends Naya and Fariza when suddenly one Malaysian Chinese at his early 60s approached us and he had met Naya before. Excited about meeting Malaysians, he then invited us to chat about political issues especially in Malaysia. Perhaps he wants to know more about the opinion and the thinking of us students who are exposed to the situation outside Malaysia. I think the conversation was good and quite thought provoking. But the part that strikes me the most when he mentioned that:
"there is no civilization that lasts. Look at the Roman empire and such, none of it exists for more than a thousand years. Every civilization will go through a downfall. Like now, we have the US as the civilization that rules the world, but sooner or later they will experience this downfall. No matter how they try to diminish Islam, never they will be able to do that. As instead of weakening, Islam is growing everywhere now. So, since Bush cannot be a candidate for the presidency chair in the next election, his brother Jeffrey Bush will compete for it. If the Republican wins, billions of money will again be wasted for the Iraq war. This means a sign for the downfall of America as they spent most of the money on those fruitless acts in the name of fighting against terrorism."
So does that mean we have to pray for the Republican's victory in the next election? But can we stand seeing more and more Muslims in Iraq especially children suffers the consequence of the war? Or if the democrat wins, does this signals a new light for the Iraqi people and at the same time will help in the betterment of the situation in the middle east, (especially Palestine) as well? I'm quite sure most of us deem for the victory on the Democrat's side, but how assured are we that this will help to improve the situation in Iraq and all Muslim countries as well. There's a saying, "whatever you think, think the opposite". Perhaps the old man is right. Republican have to win, if we think about it in the opposite way. I know by just writing about this won't contribute much in achieving our aim to change the world. But this old man makes me reflect. I never think of this before.
But it's all in Allah's hands. He destroyed lots of nations before. The 'Aad, the Thamud, the Noah people. Allah will had preserved them if He want to but it didn't happened. The only thing remains is their city as a sign for us to ponder. When Allah says, "Be", then there's nothing that can stop the phenomena.
"And how many a city which was unjust have We shattered and produced after it another people [21:11]."
Like they say, life is like a wheel. One moment you'll be at down, and there are moments you'll be up again. And so does the civilization. Like Islam which used to rule the world, it is not possible that it will experience its glory again. We'll see in 600 years from now and maybe less? who knows. Never ever say that we can't as it is something that Allah has promised :) It's up to us whether to be part of those who contribute to the glory or be just like one of the bubbles in the sea, exists in a great amount of numbers but don't really benefit much. It's our choice!
